It was over.
The two had long since left. Atsushi was dead; the cops would find him in the morning.
Kakashi had decided to take Mikuru to a nearby restaurant. He always got something to eat after a mission, why shouldn't she?
"Mikuru-san." Kakashi's voice was soft. She wasn't paying attention; but rather watching the counter as they waited for their food. "You can't hesitate like that."
"I know," she replied. "But you sprang that on me...that whole killing him by myself thing."
"That was a test."
"And I take it I failed?"
"Not at all."
Mikuru stared at him, confused. "So what happened?"
"Nerves got the best of you. It happens to everyone. But you jumped in there quicker than everyone else I've seen."
"So that means I did good?" she asked, smiling. Kakashi nodded, and then got up to get their meals. He came back a couple minutes later with two  and two bottles of Ramune: one kiwi, the other lemon-lime. "I'm not getting fired?" Mikuru added with a giggle.
"No, of course not."
"Okay."
"I do have one suggestion though."
"Yes sir?"
"M-Maybe wear dresses like that when we go out?" he asked.
Mikuru looked at him with a look on her face that screamed "what the hell?" He DID like what he saw...she smirked and replied, "sure."
The two finished their meal and left the restaurant. After a bow and goodbye, Mikuru went her way, and Kakashi his.

It was now almost 4:00 in the morning. Any hopes Mikuru had of sleeping 'til past noon were gone. She'd have to get up early next morning to file a report with the police.
Before she knew it, she had collapsed in her bed and fallen asleep. Uncovered by her favourite quilt; still in her dress, still in her heels.
